Ride For Water announces closure ahead of 2027 event cycle.

After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to bring Ride for Water to a close, and there will not be a Ride for Water event for 2027.

Over the years, Ride for Water brought together a remarkable community of cyclists, volunteers, sponsors and supporters. Riders challenged themselves along the roads and trails of the Fraser Valley, but the impact of their efforts reached far beyond the finish line.

The funds raised through Ride for Water contributed to clean water projects in communities such as Adiabuna, where a well was built beside a school serving hundreds of students; Hawo, where new water sources allowed children to spend their days in the classroom instead of walking to collect water; and Merawi, where a solar powered water system is bringing safe, reliable water to families who have endured conflict and displacement.

These communities and the lives changed within them are an important part of Ride for Water’s legacy. We are deeply grateful to every person who registered, fundraised, volunteered, donated or cheered on a rider. What we’ve accomplished together will continue to make a difference for years to come.

We extend a special thank you to Diverse Properties for its longstanding support as the Title Sponsor of Ride for Water. Diverse’s generosity, partnership and belief in the event have been instrumental in making Ride for Water possible and extending its impact.

We are also incredibly grateful to our Race Director, Michael Douven, whose leadership, dedication and care created a truly great event. From designing memorable routes to building an experience riders could be proud to complete, Michael poured an extraordinary amount of himself into Ride for Water. Its story would not be the same without him.

This was not an easy decision. Participation has declined over the past several years, and we believe the best way to steward our resources and advance our mission is to focus our energy on strengthening and growing our run events.

While the chapter of Ride for Water comes to an end, our commitment to bringing clean water to international communities remains strong. We invite every rider, volunteer, and supporter to stay connected through Run for Water and continue helping bring safe, reliable water to communities in need.

To everyone who has been part of Ride for Water, thank you. Thank you for every kilometer ridden, every dollar raised and every life changed. We are proud of what this community has accomplished, and we look forward to continuing this important work together.
